An exhibition by Paul Wenham-Clarke
Through photography and personal stories, Paul Wenham-Clarke’s 2003 and 2023 exhibitions cut through the statistics to take an emotional look at the issue of road traffic incidents. The people photographed may be terribly injured and bereaved, their lives devastated. The emotional consequences of these collisions radiates out like waves on a pond. Mothers and fathers are left wondering why they have outlived their child, and lovers are separated forever with no opportunity to say goodbye. These exhibitions, made in collaboration with RoadPeace and the support of Arts University Bournemouth, contain some shocking and controversial images of crash scenes. These images have been created using actors and make-up in an attempt to make viewers realise how terrible a crash scene really would be.
Warning:
The reconstruction images in the 2003 exhibition contain some shocking scenes of car crashes and injuries.
