Lesley Williams
I am Lesley Williams, and my world changed forever when my beautiful daughter Dominique was killed in a road crash.
Dominique had left our house at 10.30am on the 29th August 2009, so excited to be going to the Creamfields music festival - a festival Dom had planned and looked forward to for quite a while.
Unfortunately for us, Dom never got there, and her life was cut short.
Dom was such an amazing daughter, sister, granddaughter and friend, beautiful inside and out, and the devastation her death caused was indescribable.
My world was changed forever and so was I as a person. From this devastation, I found RoadPeace.
This came about when I found out that there was a RoadPeace memorial service for Princess Diana taking place two days after Dom had died. I knew we had to go - to be somewhere together and with other people who would understand our pain and disbelief.
The day was a bit of a blur, but the love and support I got that day, and still receive thirteen years later from RoadPeace and the people who attend, is irreplaceable.
I have attended every service since, and read poems I have written in memory of Dominique and other road crash victims.
Pauline, the local coordinator, and many other members of RoadPeace have become friends and we support each other through our grief.
The work RoadPeace does to keep our roads safe and make people aware is remarkable, and I am very grateful and thankful to have found them.
